GreenMotion Your voice for sustainable environmental and economic development.

The Goal:

The GreenMotion Trek will be the first expedition to go around the world in alternative fueled vehicles. The GreenMotion Trek will consist of a series of trek segments, touching on six continents. This effort will link millions of professionals and citizens around the globe through a practical community-by-community Trek focused on sustainable environmental and economic development. The goal of the GreenMotion Trek is to persuade people to actively learn about the world we live in, become aware of the environmental and energy challenges we face, and encourage them to take action.

The Team:

The GreenMotion Trek will be led by Executive Director Leah Thompson. She will be accompanied by sector and country-specific experts on each segment of the Trek. GreenMotion’s Board of Directors and Board of Advisors will assist in the selection process for the team, which will include sponsors, partners and volunteers.

The Process:

The process is to travel in dual-fuel bio-diesel and electric powered vehicles with the relevant demonstration equipment, communications systems, streaming video and educational resources. The GreenMotion Trek in its entirety will cross 300,000 miles, through 125 countries, across six continents. On-site interviews, community-based seminars, school visits, and contacts with agricultural cooperatives and industries will be integral parts of the Trek. Through these interactions we will catalog at least 1,000 new or emerging “best practices”, focusing on sustainable environmental solutions and viable economic opportunities in alternative energy use.

The Launch:

The official start of the first segment of the GreenMotion Trek, also known as the North American Trek, will launch in Washington, D.C., and end in New York City.
