Leah Thompson is the President & Executive Director of GreenMotion, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which she founded in 2006. Committed to her vision to promote sustainable environmental development, Ms. Thompson became an architect of an expedition that will lead her across the United States and Canada, in an alternative fueled vehicle in May 2009. Ms. Thompson will be working with a highly experienced Advisory Board, leaders from key community sectors, international organizations and governments to create new renewable energy strategies. Ms. Thompson is engaged in an unprecedented educational campaign to communicate the urgent and global need and best practices for renewable energies worldwide.
Ms. Thompson has an extensive background as an IT executive in running and promoting high technology startups, including strategic planning, personnel and financial management, legal and corporate documentation, creating marketing communications and collateral, and conducting targeted trade shows. Ms. Thompson has a technical background that includes both basic network set-up for the business as well as an understanding of advanced Internet business applications for industries such as ISPs and telcos, military command and control communications, TV-over-Internet and Voice-over-Internet, mobile communications and e-Business. She has worked with senior executives from global IT powerhouses such as Cisco, IBM, NTT, Microsoft, Nokia, Global Crossing, Juniper, Panasonic and Ericsson, with VPs from aerospace companies such as Boeing and Lockheed Martin, and with flag officers and Senior Executive Service leaders from the US Department of Defense, the Department of Commerce, the Executive Office of the President, and other Federal departments, and with executives from NATO, the EU and Asia. She has traveled extensively around the world in support of technology and management initiatives.
Prior to her role with GreenMotion, Ms. Thompson used her leadership qualities to good effect in enabling the creation of a high company in California, Innofone.com, Inc. (and its subsidiary, IPv6 Summit, Inc.), which resulted in the growth of this fledgling startup from three people with an idea to an international multi-million dollar company -- within a three-year period. This company focuses on services and products for the New Internet (Internet Protocol version 6, or IPv6), a massive global upgrade to the existing Internet (Internet Protocol version 4, which has been in effect since 1973) that enables many new or improved functions for transmitting data, voice or multimedia. IPv6 has been mandated by both the US Department of Defense and the US Federal Government, as well as by the governments of other nations such as Japan, South Korea, China, India, Germany, and Australia. Because the transition issues for the New Internet are so broad and need international coordination, Ms. Thompson created and led conferences on this area with international participation. These conferences, known as IPv6 Summits, are now the best attended and sponsored events relating to the New Internet in the world; a record of these events, with lists of the VIP presenters and sponsors, is available at www.usipv6.com and www.coalitionsummit.com, the websites that she created for this purpose. She also started a series of events at the annual Consumer Electronics Show, the largest trade show in the US, to get exposure to the giant consumer electronics industry. Ms. Thompson also created a newsletter related to business and technology issues related to the New Internet, named 6Sense, which is now the most widely read online publication of its kind.
Ms. Thompson facilitated the company becoming a public entity and receiving investment funding, which involved extensive corporate filings with the SEC and other entities, including SB-2/A, 10-KSB, and 10-KSB/A forms, generating policies for corporate human resources, and marketing and investor relations materials, as well as numerous press releases and other documentation. She also co-founded the international IPv6 Association, a non-profit company for membership of the rapidly growing body of companies and individuals (expected to be in the many millions) that will be involved in New Internet businesses and applications. Throughout these activities, Ms. Thompson has evidenced her skills in strategic and tactical leadership – and in the detailed set-up and execution of organizational plans and goals. |
