Inspired by the California Energy Crisis Jim began researching renewable energy alternatives and ways to make PV solar cost-competitive with traditional energy sources. Since then he has become well-versed in PV solar technologies and market, federal and state renewable energy programs and incentives, public financing, and carbon trading markets.
As a humanitarian Jim also has a passion for helping the economically disadvantaged. Towards this endeavor he has developed a strategy to bring renewable energy to low-income housing realizing cost savings for both low-income housing authorities and also the low-income tenants.
As a visionary, Jim understood years before that PV solar energy could be produced cost competitively today through a combination of vertical integration, low-cost thin-film PV technologies and manufacturing, and economies of scale, and leveraging existing incentives and the growing carbon trading market.
