Who We Are

Alex Grizenko has thirty years of professional experience in many diversified business areas, including managing healthcare clinics, designing and developing medical information systems, founding and managing a computer hardware and software company, developing several businesses in Russia, and in the past ten years becoming a renown expert on new diamond technologies. Alex holds a B.S. in Physiological Psychology from McGill University and a Master in Health Administration (MBA Program) from Duke University.

Intrigued with the opportunities presented by the Soviet Perestroika movement to build bridges through business and art, Alex Grizenko was a primary organizer of a highly memorable cultural détente event: the first Soviet- US Contemporary Art Exhibition (1988-1990). As Russia opened to do business with the rest of the world, Alex was one of the first to bring the gem treasures of Russia to the world market. The genesis of his current company, Lucent Diamonds, started with his creation of Russian Colored Stone Company in the early 90’s. His company presented the world with unique natural colored gemstones from Russia: alexandrite, demantoid garnet, Russian diopside, bi-color topaz, spinel, scapolite and tourmaline. Many cutting award competitions were won with these fine gemstones.

Lucent Diamonds has pioneered innovative diamond technologies for the past decade, becoming a market leader in laboratory grown and heat treated natural diamonds. The technology of high pressure and high temperature creates stunning permanently colored diamonds. Currently Lucent Diamonds are available in fancy pink and red colors (Imperial Red Diamonds®), and fancy yellow, green and orange colors (Luminari Diamonds®). Alex is a frequent lecturer on new diamond technologies and has been featured on PBS NOVA (The Diamond Deception, 2000), BBC Science and Nature Horizons (The Diamond Makers, 2000, The Diamond Labs, 2004), and ZDF Science (Germany, Laboratory Diamonds, 2004).

Fluent in English, French and Russian, Alex has spent the past 20 years traveling the world looking for new business opportunities. For the past several years, sustainable, renewable energy has become his focal interest, and Alex is currently developing a new business that will incorporate several emerging alternative energy technologies.
